United States Power Squadrons (USPS)

United States Power Squadrons is a private non-profit organization of men and women with a common interest in boating who promote boating education and safety on the water. Boat ownership, however, is not a requirement for membership. USPS is not connected with any government or military organizations. Objectives of the organization are self-education, civic service, and social activities. Nationwide USPS is comprised of some 50,000 members, in 33 districts, and 450+ local groups called squadrons. USPS is the worlds largest private boating group.

Diablo Sail and Power Squadron (DSPS) is part of District 25, and is one of those 450+ local squadrons.

Membership Qualifications

Active membership in USPS is by application from those 16 years and over who have passed the USPS Boating Course or Boat Smart examination, the CPS (Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons) Boating Course examination, the USCG Auxillary Boating Skills and Seamanship or Sailing and Seamanship examination or any other NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) approved boating course and who are able and willing to contribute time, energy, and skills to the objectives of USPS
